Meet the Sisters Elementary School Office Team

Megan Storey

Sisters Elementary School Principal

I grew up in the Portland area and began my career in education after earning my degree from Oregon State University (Go Beavs!) and a Master’s in Teaching from Concordia University. I started teaching English Language Arts at Sisters Middle School in 2006 and joined the Redmond School District in 2012. After completing my Administrative Licensure through the University of Oregon, I stepped into leadership as Dean of Students at Obsidian Middle School, where I served for five years. I then spent five years as Assistant Principal at Elton Gregory Middle School before returning to Sisters to serve as principal of our amazing elementary school.

I am married to a wonderful partner who is also in education and we have two daughters, two Bernese Mountain dogs, and two very entertaining black cats. When I am not serving Sisters Elementary, I enjoy cheering on my daughters on the volleyball court or softball field and rafting remote canyons with my family during the warmer months. You can also usually find me in the middle of a book or two, as reading is one of my favorite hobbies.

Jana Giles

Assistant Principal of Student Success

This is my second year at Sisters Elementary School and my ninth year in education. I’m a proud Oregonian and feel grateful to be part of such an amazing community. Before joining Sisters, I taught first and third grade at North Marion in Aurora, Oregon. I am passionate about helping students access their learning by ensuring they feel regulated, connected, and cared for each day. At school, you’ll see me supporting students with their behaviors, academics, or social needs.

When I’m not at school, you might find me fishing with my husband, reading in a local coffee shop, riding my bike, skiing, spending time with my four local nieces and nephews, or playing a round of disc golf.

Kate Kuitert

Sisters Elementary School Counselor

This is my 7th year working at Sisters Elementary School. It is my 21st year as a School Counselor! One of the best things about working in an elementary school is building relationships with students year after year. I am passionate about supporting all students and helping them to build skills that will not only benefit them now, but throughout their life.

When I am not at school, I am spending time with my husband, two children, friends, and family. We love baseball, camping, traveling, and enjoying the outdoors!

Carlene Turpen

Sisters Elementary School Secretary and Registrar

Carlene has been with Sisters School District since 2017. You will find her at the front desk assisting students, community members and staff, answering phones, registering new students and assisting with day to day operations within the school. When she is not at the school Carlene enjoys spending time with her husband and kids.

Nancy Gray

Sisters Elementary School Secretary

My name is Nancy. I have been a secretary here at Sisters Elementary for almost 3 years. Prior to this, I worked in the mortgage lending industry for over 35 years. In my spare time I love to go on spontaneous road trips and spend time with my family, especially my new granddaughter.

Brittaney Brown

Student Success Coordinator

This is my 11th year in education and my eighth year at Sisters Elementary School. I truly enjoy the strong sense of community and the joy of learning at SES and feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a passionate and creative learning environment. Prior to serving as the Student Success Coordinator, I taught kindergarten, first, third, and sixth grade. I come from a large family of educators, and education has always been a true passion of mine. I love celebrating each student’s uniqueness and nurturing their excitement for learning.

Outside of school, I spend most of my time with my two young sons, often following my husband around the country in support of his baseball career. As a family, we enjoy vivacious books, a variety of athletic activities, outdoor adventures, traveling, and spending lots of quality time together.

School Nurse

I am entering my fifth year at SES as the full time school nurse after 13 years providing inpatient care. I am delighted and honored to have a profession that allows me to care for, educate, provide resources, and help students and families to be healthy, safe and ready to learn. I am so grateful our schools recognize health and wellness coincides and supports ready learners.

I enjoy the outdoors with my wonderful husband, three growing kids, and friends. Any time to get to a quiet lake or starlit strolls, I will sneak away. Continued curiosity to gain knowledge or learn a new skill keeps me moving forward and excited for tomorrow!
